Essential Learning

LTG - Learning and Development Partner

Brief:

When I joined the Learning and Development team, LTG’s mandatory learning suite was outdated and time consuming. Learners did not feel the off-the-shelf content available was relevant and completion rates were alarmingly low. The overall time to complete the courses was over eight hours and learners who did not speak English were being asked to complete the learning with a bilingual English speaker close by to translate. Clearly, this was not a pleasant experience!

With the previous team having left, I viewed this as an opportunity to redesign and update the mandatory training, align across LTG and GP Strategies’ brands, and lay the foundations for an engaged learning culture.

The Challenge:

  • Complex regulatory environment across a dozen countries

  • Low budget

  • Learners split across two brands with different policies and processes

  • Translation requirement

Skills:

  • Training needs analysis

  • Creative workshopping

  • Stakeholder management

  • Content scoping

  • Storyboarding

  • Scenario design

  • Graphic design

  • Articulate Storyline 360

The Solution:

A suite of five streamlined e-learning courses delivered to four thousand colleagues globally.

I consulted with stakeholders across a range of internal teams to determine what content was necessary and remove extraneous topics. Using these insights I scoped, designed, and built five 45 minute e-learning modules in Storyline 360 covering Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, Data Protection, IT Security, the business’s Code of Conduct, and Using AI Securely. Rather than completing a mandatory assessment at the end, learners answer a mix of scenario and knowledge-based questions in the flow of the course. I secured our team access to GP’s Smartcat license to ensure we could translate the courses, using native speakers internally to check and correct the AI-enhanced translation.

After the delivery of all five modules, we saw a significant increase in completion rates and received positive feedback from previously critical learners. Additionally, these courses were used to establish a unified visual style and tone of voice for use in internal communications and learning across GP and LTG going forward.
